Municipality of Emmen joins 7 parties in the regional building chain in the Bouwvezeldeal/ Convenant Biobased Bouwen Groningen - Drenthe!

Another great and important moment for further expansion of our chain of bio-based building and remodelling from land to premises & beyond in the North of the Netherlands! Last week, the following parties in Southeast Province of Drenthe The Covenant Biobased Building Groningen - Drenthe (“the Building Fibre Deal”):

The application of bio-based, healthier materials in (re)construction is not yet happening by itself. Even if, like the above parties, you are already active in applying bio-based materials: from starting points, design, structural and building physics engineering + construction realisation. This requires further cooperation with trust and people who really want to do it. From space in policy and regulations, way of requesting/tendering, low-tech design & construction + use and perception from the end user of the house or other building.
There are still bumps to be taken together and, at the same time, bio-based (re)construction is also rediscovering forgotten knowledge + experience of the past centuries. More and more is possible and more and more building materials with natural, renewable raw materials are being used. The trick is to continue and expand this together.

From here, we look ahead. To further application in practice, to learning and scaling up, and to continuing to strengthen this collaboration. Thank you to all parties involved and signatories who have made this moment possible. We will continue, together.

In the quiet outskirts of De Heurne, we are building a special villa. 
A design by Vincenth Schreurs , in which clean lines and warm wood accents come together beautifully. 
The backbone consists of CLT (cross-laminated timber) combined with steel. This mix enables large spans and open spaces, as well as ensuring that the shell was up and running within three weeks. 
Special detail: silver fir was chosen instead of spruce for the striking CLT. This wood gives the interior a light, elegant look. Quiet and comparably knot-free. Together with Heva Climate & Installation , interARC , STEP Engineering BV and Eeftink Rensing we realise a home that is technically advanced while breathing comfort and atmosphere.

Project: Tennis & Padel Club Zevenhuizen 
Proud of our contribution to this beautiful sports complex! For the new Tennis & Padel Club in Zevenhuizen, we were asked to supply the main supporting structure - a robust and durable construction made of Glulam Vuren GL24h, finished with a BSH varnish in the colour pine. 
A special detail: the corners of the structure are shaped like a ‘7’, an underground reference to Zevenhuizen. A fine example of design and symbolism!

Cure Invest is realising a new process plant in an existing building formerly owned by Freudenberg in Emmen. STEP Engineering was commissioned by Cure Invest to do the Architectural and Civil Engineering with all associated investigations from design to building permit.
The environmental permit was recently granted.
We thank Cure for this fine assignment.

We are proud to be working on the realisation of this special new-build house in De Heurne. Last period was marked by groundwork. In this new year, we will start on the concrete substructure. Then the components of the CLT shell, made by DERIX, mounted.

This project is a great example of collaboration: Vincenth Schreurs designed the property, STEP Engineering BV takes care of construction, Heva Climate & Installation the installations, interARC the interior design and Lighting advice 010 lighting advice.
